The disc separator separates solid material from wastewater. A screw conveyor and moving discs keep material flowing and help prevent blockages, capturing suspended solids and nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen.
Wastewater passes through several stages, from the measuring tank to the dewatering drum. Sensors and a timer monitor and control the process through the integrated PLC.
In the drum’s thickening zone, liquid and solid fractions are separated and the filtrate is discharged. Pressure increases towards the end of the drum, producing a drier filter cake. In some applications, up to 50% of the solid fraction can be separated.
The disc separator supports wastewater treatment in biological processes and flotation plants, including on pig, duck and cattle farms. Samples can be tested in the laboratory on request.
