Vereijken has become Cooperl Northern Europe

Vereijken has been part of the French farmers’ cooperative Cooperl from Brittany (Cooperl ARC Atlantique) for more than six years.At the end of 2024, Vereijken Hooijer BV and Cooperl Arc Atlantique decided to broaden their business objectives by transforming the company. As a result, the Dutch entity of Vereijken in Ede was officially renamed Cooperl Northern Europe B.V. in February 2025.

Our objective

The objective of Cooperl Northern Europe is the sales and promotion of Cooperl products and services, primarily within the pig farming sector in Northern Europe (the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Denmark).

The name Vereijken has now become one of Cooperl’s product brands. This brand is distributed worldwide through all Cooperl locations.

Our mission is clear: to help farmers create value and to support them in building a sustainable future for their farms.

Who is Cooperl

Cooperl is a farmers’ cooperative based in Western France, active throughout the entire pig production chain, from upstream to downstream. For more than 55 years, Cooperl has been addressing the challenges of livestock farming worldwide.

Within this cooperative, the housing equipment division, operating under the name Cooperl Equipment, has experienced strong growth in recent years. Cooperl Equipment has expanded its expertise by integrating, in addition to Vereijken and its renowned free-farrowing systems, four other companies:

Farmapro, which produces a broad range of products required by livestock farmers to maintain biosecurity and animal health.

CRD, a French specialist in daily manure removal, driving the reduction of ammonia and methane emissions in livestock housing through a unique and proven manure scraper system and manure robots;

Hölscher and Leuschner, an innovative German company specializing in pig weighing using camera technology, barn ventilation, and sorting pigs in large groups;

Fournier, a leading French company known for the quality of prefabricated concrete elements and concrete solutions for pig and cattle housing;

Reason for the change

In order to further strengthen Cooperl’s objective—helping farmers create value and build a future for their farms—and to better integrate Vereijken and its products within the organization, a new organizational setup was necessary. In addition, the location required a day-to-day managing director.

As of 1 January, Wout Engelbertink has therefore taken over the management of Cooperl Northern Europe from Bart Hooijer. Through a warm handover and in his new role within Cooperl as International Business Developer, Bart Hooijer remains involved with both the customers and the Ede location. This ensures that we continue to support our customers perfectly in their native language.

Impact on customers

As a result of this name change, you can now reach us via the email address info@cooperl.com; all other contact details remain unchanged.

Beyond the name, existing customers can expect further changes. The focus will be placed even more strongly on the customer, and the product range will be significantly expanded.

Logos, this website, and other marketing materials have now been updated to the Cooperl corporate identity.

In addition, we will gradually introduce the livestock sector to other products that improve and/or simplify daily operations on the farm, reduce emissions, enhance human and animal welfare, provide better insights, reduce costs, and help elevate farm organizations to the next level.

The Vereijken brand will continue to develop internationally. As experts of the Vereijken brand, we are keen to listen to your needs in order to support your current and future projects even more effectively.

The Cooperl Cooperative is currently number one in France in terms of pig production and processing volumes, and ranks first worldwide due to the fact that more than 50% of the annually processed pork—over 5 million animals—is completely antibiotic-free.
